Classic cars are a type of car that is highly acclaimed throughout the whole country. Ford, Pontiac, Chevy, and many other brands proud themselves of giving birth to some of the most amazing cars of all times such as the Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and so many other beauties. These cars have been showcased in thousand of movies and have been considered a great asset as the years pass.
In order for a car to receive the title of a "classic car" the car must be between 30-49 years old. Every country has their different policies and regulation sin order to classify these vehicles and allow owners to be part of national clubs such as the CCCA (Classic Car Club of America).
Classic cars although unique and considered "classic beauties" have to be handled with care as not only repairs can be costly but due to the year they were built, they do not comply by the basic safety measures now required for any car to be manufactured. An example of this are cars manufactured during the early 1960's, for these cars, having a seat belt was not a standard safety regulation, therefore during this time, seat belts were non-existent. Another example is the width of tires, with time safety regulations have required that tires be of smaller width to allow more stability accordingly to the size of the car. Original tires for these vehicles do not offer as much stability, therefore drivers must be very careful when operating such vehicles.
Due to all these conditions, it is always recommended to ship a classic car via enclosed carrier, this way cars can be protected to the fullest from the environment and hazardous material that can fly around on the road. Some classics that haven't been restored yet can be transported in an open carrier, however due to its low clearance it is recommended not to as open carriers cannot handle such clearances without scratching car.
Due to their age it is very important to check the car before transport to make sure no leaks are available that can ruin other cars going beneath or behind it. If it is a convertible it is important to make sure that the roof is well attached to the car to avoid it from falling off and causing any damage. Old cars are usually heavier than new cars, as they use different materials to build the body, also they're bigger in dimensions, therefore it is always important to describe as many details as possible to your booking agent to ensure the correct accommodations and price.
